Questions before your appointment.
Clear information about how appointments work and what you can expect.
What happens at the first appointment?+
We discuss your current concern, health history, goals and relevant lifestyle factors. A physical examination may follow. We then explain our findings and discuss options, including whether chiropractic care appears appropriate.
Will I be adjusted at the first appointment?+
Not necessarily. Care only starts when it is appropriate, you understand the proposed approach and you consent. In some cases further information or referral may be recommended first.
Do I need a GP referral?+
You can usually contact a chiropractor directly. If your presentation suggests another healthcare professional or investigation is more appropriate, we will explain that and recommend referral.
How many appointments will I need?+
There is no fixed number. This depends on your presentation, goals, response and preferences. Your plan should be reviewed rather than assumed in advance.
What techniques may be used?+
Depending on your assessment and preferences, care may include joint manipulation or mobilisation, soft-tissue techniques, movement or exercise guidance and practical self-management advice. Nothing should happen without explanation and consent.
Can I book during pregnancy?+
Yes, pregnant patients can book for assessment of musculoskeletal concerns. Positioning and techniques are adapted where appropriate. The clinic does not claim to treat pregnancy-specific conditions or symptoms.
What should I wear?+
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily is usually best. If a specific examination requires different access, this will be explained and your consent sought.
When should I seek urgent medical help instead?+
If you think you may have a medical emergency, do not wait for a chiropractic appointment. In the UK call 999 for emergencies or use NHS 111 for urgent advice when appropriate.
